April is consistently interested in the photograph as both a document and an object. Collecting other people’s photographs years ago and consistently mesmerized that those photographs can be bought and sold. In effect, these memories, stories and documentation of moments become a commodity. The main character of Blade Runner, Rachel, who was an android but didn’t know it, believed that her life was that of a real human, because she had photographs to validate her memories. The photograph, as document, has almost always acted as a proof, even when it is not. Gertler resides in Berlin Germany.
